Should I File For bankruptcy?

Hi I am 19 Years Old And I Have 10,000.00 In Credit Card Debt. I Had To Pay For My Books And School With Credit Cards Because My Parents Would Not Pay For School And I Did Not Have Any Credit So Now I Have 10,000 In Credit Card Debt............. And Now I Have To Pay For School. And I Can%26#039;t Keep Up With The Payment.

Should I File For bankruptcy?

You should not file. In addition to messing up your credit for the next 10 years any potential employers will see this too. With little work experience and documented proof that you are unethical and willing to rip others off you are unlikely to get a decent job, no matter what your degree.

Should I File For bankruptcy?

I dont think you should i think you should go to a credit counsler first before you make a MAJOR decision. Bankruptcy stays on your credit for 7 to 10 years!

Should I File For bankruptcy?

No. You should go to you school%26#039;s financial aid office. I mean no offense, but based on what I know about student loans and grants, your post sounds unbeleivable. If you truly have just %26quot;missed the boat%26quot;, go to the financial aid office ASAP. You likely qualify for more loans and grants than you realize. You can get started at FAFSA.ed.gov. The application period for the next fiscal year starts January 1, do not put it off, it is first come first serve. As for your existing debts, hopefully you can replace it with student loans, but speak to a financial counselor. You can renegotiate the payments and learn how to budget reposibly. Good luck.

Should I File For bankruptcy?

Hi. Sorry to hear about your financial situation. I would advise bankruptcy as a last resort only. It leaves a bad mark on your credit report for at least 7 years in the US. Right now some credit card companies are willing to work with consumers in trouble, from what I heard on a news report a few days ago. My advice would be to call your creditors, let them know your situation. Tell them that you are a student, and will most likely have to file for bankruptcy if they can%26#039;t accept a settlement. (Sometimes a fraction of what you owe.) Most credit card companies would be happier receiving a percentage of the debt than nothing at all, which will be the case if you file bankruptcy.

Edit: BTW, I%26#039;m not sure, but I don%26#039;t think student loans are discharged in bankruptcy. Taxes surely are never discharged in bankruptcy. The IRS always gets what they%26#039;re owed. Or at least what they believe they%26#039;re owed %26lt;sigh%26gt;.

Are you going to be able to stop using credit cards if you file? It%26#039;s not a good idea to file if you need to continue to use the credit cards.
