and are debt collectors aloud to charge you for court costs? because i found out im paying 2 courts costs.one to the courts and the other to the debt collector.
What happens if you dont pay a judgement from the courts?over a credit card?
The court can grant the creditor an action to %26quot;garnish%26quot; your wages and yes you do have to pay the extra fees and costs.
Courts don%26#039;t usually attach ones bank account unless it%26#039;s for serious debts like child support, back taxes and student loans and in some cases violations of certain federal laws.
Most credit card companies will go the %26quot;garnishment%26quot; route. They want the money now, they don%26#039;t want to wait for it by placing any liens on your property.

How old was the debt, what company and for how much?

The cost of collecting the debt is the debtor%26#039;s (you) and if you don%26#039;t make some sort of arrangement to get the judgement aid you%26#039;ll likely end up having your wages garnisheed or bank accounts attached.

And you%26#039;ll pay more if they have to begin garnishment of your wages, or other action. A court order is VERY serious and judges get really REALLY pi$$ed when people ignore their order.
You dont like the terms? You shouldnt have gotten in debt.
Sorry if that sounds harsh, but it is reality.

They will most likely garnish your wages and sieze your tax return but know that if you dont have a job, they can force you to sell your assets. If you have no assets, they will sieze your bank account. If you dont have a bank account, they will put you in jail.
Now mind you, this is not a step A to step B to step C of what they will do. This is just most likely what they will do. They might jump from Step A to Step %26quot;throw your a$$ in jail%26quot;

With that judgment, the collector can garnish your wages, attach your bank account, and lien your property.
And yes, the can charge you all legal costs of collection. It%26#039;s part of the fine print to the original agreement with the credit card company. Your judgment is still accruing interest too.
They can%26#039;t attach your tax refund -- only child support and Federal debts can take it. And we don%26#039;t have debtor%26#039;s prison in the US.

The court cost to the court AND creditor? What you need to do is read the judgment notice, and base what you pay on that not the notice that and not what the debt collector is telling you.
Also you mentioned something about ten years. How old was the actual debt when they took you to court??If it was 10 years there is no way they could have won or even filed the court and you may be entitled to some legal fees + costs for appealing it.
