Credit Limit Increase on Discover Card?

I was questioning my balance on my Discover card today-over the phone-when the rep asked if I%26#039;d like to have a credit increase. With Discover I%26#039;ve paid on time all the time-but still have a balance (high balance but payments are reasonable)...but with other cards I%26#039;ve been late %26amp; the balances are high %26amp; my credit score is not good. How much would Discover increase my limit ($2000-$8000 would be nice so I could transfer a balance from another card to my Discover Card)? Would they increase it based on my payment history with them or do they take into account my credit score %26amp; my other debts?

They periodically review your credit and your payment record with them. I got my first increase with Discover six months after I opened my account, another one at one year, and about one per year since. Most of the time my increases have been $1000-2500. I have had Discover since 2001 and now have a $14,500 limit.
