Can I freeze my credit card?

The best thing you can do here is cut up the card so you don%26#039;t use it. Keep paying the bill on time and pay more than the minimum until you get it paid off.

Can I freeze my credit card?

One can %26quot;freeze%26quot; their credit reports to stop any illegal activity (such as %26quot;junk debt%26quot; agencies from fishing for people to scare, or identity theft.

You can either close the account or put the credit card in an ice tray and put in freezer, but other then that I don%26#039;t see what else you could do.

I don%26#039;t think the major cc companies will %26quot;freeze and account%26quot; just to stop one from using the card, they will do it if you suspect identity theft.

Hope this helps

Just cancel your credit card. You will still have to pay it off but you will not have anyother charges on it. Believe me I have been in debt before. What I learned is if you dont%26#039; have the cash to pay for it, don%26#039;t charge it.

Can I freeze my credit card?

There%26#039;s been a lot in the news lately about being able to freeze your credit in all states starting on November 1. That means you put a total freeze on your credit with all three credit reporting agencies and even *you* can%26#039;t open a new line of credit without unfreezing it.

You can%26#039;t freeze just one of your credit cards unless you put it in the freezer as mentioned above. :-)

You also can%26#039;t close a credit card account until you%26#039;ve completely paid it off.

So to pay off your debt, you need to stop using your card. Pay more than the minimum amount due each month if you want to get out of debt anytime soon. Once you get out of debt, you%26#039;ll have extra money every month because all the %26#039;stuff%26#039; you bought will finally be paid for and you won%26#039;t be paying any more finance charges.

Getting a credit freeze might not be a bad idea for you. You wouldn%26#039;t be able to immediately apply for any new credit in a weak moment. It will cost you up to $10 at each credit reporting agency: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. You have to do it yourself. The link below explains how to do it and what it is.
